Dense 3D topography measurements are generated by SSI’s GeoProfiler devices, which combine inertial profile and slope sensor data with conventional land surveying instruments. CAD formats (e.g. PNEZD, PLLHD, GPGGA) are supported for design and machine control applications. Or simpler 2D dual track profile data with cross-slope are useful for pavement resurfacing design and paver control optimized for smoothness.
Combined Inertial Profiler, Slope & Survey Data
SSI’s patented technology produces a high resolution 3D topography of road surfaces by combining inertial profiler measurements with cross-slope and elevation data from RTK corrected GPS. The lightweight and high speed vehicle mounted GeoProfilers from SSI combine point-to-point inertial profiler measurements with tactical grade slope sensors and corrected GPS. A patented process is used to combine the various data sets into a CAD formatted surface topography having more and better resolution than survey instruments alone can produce.
Application: Pavement Design
SSI GeoProfilers allow faster collections of 2D cross-sectional data or 3D topographies as compared to conventional survey equipment. Calibrate, collect and build the surface using the onboard Toughbook computer. Output the data into formats such as 2DSurvey, PNEZD, PLLHD or GPGGA for use with third-party CAD or design software.
Application: Machine Control
The post-processed 2D cross-sectional data or 3D topographies generated by SSI GeoProfilers can be used in third party applications to control pavers or other construction equipment.
