Transverse Profile, Geometry & Texture
Full lane width transverse profile measurement is available from SSI. The detailed transverse profile measurements support accurate rut depth measurements, lane-edge drop-off, and cross-slope characterization. Pavement texture measurements are available on SSI’s inertial and walking profiler systems. Road geometry features can be output using an optional IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) on SSI’s inertial profiling systems.
Using five Gocator ultra-wide beam lasers from LMI Technologies, SSI’s transverse profile system measures a 14 foot (3.6 meter) full lane width. Each laser scans 1280 points, for a total of 6400 points per profile, which are sampled at 5KHz. Calculate configurable rut depth reports, cross-slope, lane edge drop off and more; designed for compliance with AASHTO PP070. Also view detailed graphs of the transverse profile with same area ride values and images with SSI’s Profiler 3 software.
Road geometry attributes can be measured using a tactical grade inclinometer and satellite corrected GPS positions.
MPD (Mean Profile Depth under ASTM 1845) is supported on SSI’s CS9300 high speed inertial profiling system. MPD and 3D lateral profile scans for textures assessment are supported on the CS8800 Walking Profiler.
